Installing Booking Pro

To install the Booking Pro database and application software on your PC please follow the instructions given below.

1. If you have an installation CD start the setup procedure by inserting the installation CD in your CD drive and waiting for the setup procedure to start. However, if the setup fails to start automatically click "Start", "Run", "d:\setup.bat" (where d: is the drive letter of your CD drive) and click the "OK" button. If you have downloaded "fullinstall.exe" from our website then just choose the "Run" or "Open" options during downloading or double-click the file "fullinstall.exe" after you have saved it to a folder.

2. If you don't already have the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installed on your PC it will be automatically installed. Installation of the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 can take several minutes and it is important not to interrupt or cancel it. When installation completes the Booking Pro Setup Wizard is displayed.

3. Ensure that you have administrator rights to the PC and then click the "Next" button.

4. Select the option corresponding to what you want installed on this PC and then click the "Next" button. The components which will be installed are as follows:

(a) For database software:  Microsoft's SQL Server 2005 Express

(b) For application software: Microsoft's .NET Framework 1.1 and the Booking Pro application software

If you have licensed Booking Pro for use on more than one PC then it is recommended that you install the Booking Pro application software on a network share. Instructions for installing on multiple PCs can be found here.

5. Click the "Next" button to start installing the required components. The installation of each component may require further confirmation and accepting the defaults should be suitable in most cases.

Please note the following:

(a) When the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express component is installed it creates a new instance of SQL Server called "bprsolutions". This helps to ensure that installing Booking Pro does not interfere with other instances of SQL Server installed on the PC (e.g. SIMS). (b) If you need to change the folders used to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express please select the component and click the "Options" button. This will give you the option to select different folders.)

6. When all of the components have been installed double-click the "Booking Pro" icon on your desktop to start Booking Pro.

7. Read the licence and, if this is acceptable, click "Accept". Booking Pro then checks to see if there are any updates available and if there are the following form is displayed. If no updates are available or your internet connect isn't available you can proceed to the Database Settings Wizard.

8. Click the "Next" button to start downloading the updates. While the updates are being downloaded the following form is displayed.

9. When the updates have been downloaded the following form is displayed.

10. Click the "Finish" button to install the updates and restart Booking Pro.

11. The "Database Settings Wizard" form is then displayed to allow you to create a database which will be used to save your bookings. This form is shown below.

12. Click the "Next" button to display the current settings as shown below.

13. You can now click the "Help" button to read about creating a database and completing the setup of Booking Pro.
